Foster Parent Inquiry Submitted

Below you’ll find helpful links to upcoming trainings, support groups, and resources designed for prospective foster parents:

Foster Parent Support Group

Being a foster parent comes with unique challenges and joys, and you don’t have to walk this journey alone. Our monthly Foster Parent Support Group is a place to connect with others who understand, share encouragement, and get practical tips for navigating foster care.

When: Second Sunday of each month, 2:00–3:30 pm
Where: Marion Naz Church, 233 W. Church St., Marion, OH 43302
Who: Open to currently licensed foster families and families in the home study process

Additional support:

  • Child care is provided so you can fully engage in the discussion.
  • Gift card drawing each month for attendees.

Join us to build community, share experiences, and find encouragement in every stage of fostering.


Foster Parent Preservice Training

Ready to take the first step toward becoming a certified foster or adoptive parent? Join us for our FREE, in-person preservice training series this November. These sessions are designed to prepare you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence you’ll need as you begin your foster care journey.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Saturday, November 1, 2025
  • Saturday, November 8, 2025
  • Saturday, November 22, 2025

This training is required for new foster/adoptive parents and provides valuable guidance, resources, and support as you move forward in the licensing process.

Preservice Contest

Thinking about becoming a foster parent? Here’s an extra reason to get started now. Complete your required Foster Parent Preservice Classes by December 31, 2025, and you’ll be entered into a raffle for a $100 Amazon gift card!

How it works:

  1. Register for preservice classes by contacting moreinfo@marionkids.com.
  2. Schedule and complete all required preservice classes by 12/31/25.
  3. Let us know once your training is complete and you’ll be entered to win.

The drawing will be held on January 5, 2026.

Prospective Foster Parent Facebook Group

Starting the foster care journey is easier when you have others to walk alongside you. That’s why we’ve created a private Facebook group just for prospective foster and adoptive families in Marion County.

  • In this group, you’ll be able to:
  • Connect with others who are exploring foster care and adoption
  • Ask questions and share experiences in a supportive space
  • Stay updated on upcoming trainings, events, and resources

It’s a great place to build community and find encouragement as you move through the process.

Virtual Preservice Training

If attending in-person classes is difficult, you now have the option to complete Foster Parent Preservice Training online. Marion County Children Services is accepting virtual preservice class completion, so you can take these important first steps toward becoming a foster parent from the comfort of your own home.

This flexible option makes it easier than ever to begin your journey toward certification and ensures you receive the same essential training and preparation as the in-person sessions.
