Protective Home-Based Services

Following an investigation, where it is determined that Children Services’ assistance is needed and that the child can remain in his or her own home without the risk of abuse, a caseworker is assigned to provide casework counseling and case management on behalf of the children and the family. Referrals to other agencies/providers may also be made for the provision of necessary services such as therapeutic counseling and diagnostic assessment, protective day care, parent education, or child development program participation. Areas of functioning that may need to be enhanced include: knowledge of normal child development, health care; positive discipline methods; communication skills; marital and family relations; and self-esteem enhancement.
